Xplora is the learning and working environment at the three main campuses in Breda, Tilburg and ’s-Hertogenbosch. Through Xplora, Avans University of Applied Sciences provides a world of information that ties in perfectly with each study program.

An addition of 85,000 full-text articles about nursing
From January Xplora offers full-text access to 42 English-language nursing journals.
A search in CINAHL (and/or PubMed) now ends more often with a full-text article. In CINAHL you will recognize by the 'Try me' Xplora-icon if an article falls within the subscription.
In PubMed look out for the Wolters Kluwer Health logo. One click on the logo automatically directs you to the article, on condition that you are logged into the Avans network.
Xplora: also on Facebook
Social media are hot. The largest one is Facebook. The number of people that daily updates is huge. Therefore Xplora recently opened a page on Facebook. What can you expect here? Facts in the field of information search, new media and education. Maybe you will like it - and consider it a handy addition to the practical information you find on this site.
Read and download online books at KB
The Royal Library (KB) has 180.000 international scientific e-books and thousands of subscriptions to major e-journals. If you are a member, you can consult these titles online or download them for a week. The subjects range from agriculture to architecture and from economics to chemistry. Avans students pay only € 7.50 per year. You can register via the website where you also find all the benefits of membership.
Mobile versions of Xplora and LIC website
The Xplora and LIC website in the well-known desktop version is now also available in mobile versions for iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry. These are accessible via the regular URL. The pages are automatically shown without side menus and are displayed in a larger font. The navigation is greatly simplified.
You can easily switch to the English version by clicking the English flag symbol at the top of the page.
The best in the Netherlands according to Keuzegids
Avans University of Applied Sciences is number one for the second consecutive year. This is stated in Keuzegids HBO Voltijd 2012. The annual guide is designed to assist students in choosing their study. The editors provide an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of programs based on student opinions, educational statistics and expert opinions.
The student opinions come from the National Student Survey (NSS). The NSS asks students about all aspects of education: curriculum, teachers, rosters and buildings.
At Elsevier, only the NSS results are used, and a different method for calculating the ranking: Avans recently ended second place in Elsevier's ranking.
PCs, workstations and workspaces
Hundreds of PCs are available on each campus. You can also use your own laptop to plug in to the wireless network. A large number of the seating areas are set up for group work, but there are also individual seats where you can work in peace and quiet. At busy times it is advisable to reserve a PC, workstation or workspace.
Borrowing
You can use your student card to borrow material. The large campuses have a Selfcheck system for this purpose: a lending machine. You can carry out renewals yourself using your Borrower information in the catalogue on the internet.
The normal lending period is 4 weeks, but frequently requested books are loaned out for just 1 week. Reference work, journals and DVDs are not usually loaned out, and can be used on-site.
